ABOUT ME

When deciding on a therapist, it is important to feel a connection with the one you choose. My goal is to provide a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space where you and your family can begin the journey of self-exploration and feel supported. I work from a client-centered, anti-oppressive framework, to help you identify barriers within your environment and empower you to advocate for your own needs and make positive changes in your life.

As a registered psychotherapist with more than 10 years of experience in Ontario and British Columbia, I have been honoured to witness the resiliency that exists within individuals and families. When given the opportunity, people are eager to take the steps necessary to face their challenges head on, learn more about themselves, and find new solutions that allow them to live a more balanced life.

Developing genuine therapeutic relationships is of utmost importance in my private practice in Orangeville and in my work as a youth and family therapist at a not for profit organization. My work with clients has focused on fostering clarity, insight, self-awareness, and compassion. I have found that counselling is most effective when it is collaborative and therefore, I involve clients in their treatment planning and encourage on-going feedback.

I specialize in working with adolescents/young adults (age 12-25) and their families on a range of issues, including family conflict, peer conflict, low confidence, loss and grief, anxiety, depression, self-injury and suicidal ideation. I am skilled in a variety of approaches including, Narrative therapy, Cognitive Behaviour therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, Family Systems therapy, and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behaviour therapy. The treatment modalities I integrate into therapy are based on your unique preferences, needs and presenting issues. In addition to offering individual and family sessions, I co-facilitate adolescent/youth and parenting support groups with a fellow colleague.
